Make a softwood cabinet with a drawer and shaker style door using rebate, housing, dovetail and mortice & tenon joints
At the end of the 3 modules, you will take home your finished cabinet and the skills & confidence to start designing & making your own woodwork projects
LEARN HOW TO:
- Select, tune and use hand tools effectively
- Accurately mark out, cut & fit a range of traditional joints
- Assemble, glue & cramp projects
This course is split into three modules, each taking approximately 18 teaching hours to complete.
Module 2A – The Case
Joints: through housing, through wedged mortice & tenon.
Module 2B – The Drawer
Joints: dovetail, corner rebate and ploughed groove.
Module 2C – The Door
Joints: haunched stopped mortice & tenon and ploughed groove.
Approximately 54 teaching hours (12 days or 24 evenings) – the pace at which you work is set by you.
2 – Suitable for those who have completed our Woodwork for Beginners Level 1 course.
COURSE TIME OPTIONS:
Thursday or Friday daytime classes 10.00am – 3.00pm
Wednesday or Thursday evening classes 6.20pm – 8.35pm
Weekend classes (both Saturday and Sunday) 10.30am – 3.30pm
All classes must be taken consecutively
HOW TO BOOK IN:
We operate individual waiting lists for places in these classes. Please email email@example.com to be added to one or more waiting lists. We will contact you when you get to the top of a list and we can offer you a start date for your course. Please also provide a phone number as sometimes spaces become available at short notice.
When you accept a start date, we will send you a payment agreement using the WorldPay FuturePay facility. This will enable us to take payment from a card for 2 classes every 2 weeks in advance. There is no obligation to complete the course but we do require 2 weeks notice if you wish to leave the class.

HOW OUR CLASSES WORK:
All of our classes have a student:tutor ratio of 6:1. Most are mixed level and some are mixed discipline, which means you will likely be in a group of people all doing different projects.
Tuition is given on an individual basis at each student’s bench to ensure a fully COVID-secure working and learning environment.
When you are approaching the end of your Level 2 course, you will be given the option to keep your class space in order to take further courses.
