RE-UPHOLSTERY PROJECTS

Repair and re-upholster a piece of furniture.

You choose your project and we guide you through the process of planning, stripping, repair and re-upholstery using environmentally friendly materials.

Please be aware that we do not allow the use of chemical varnish/lacquer removers in the workshop

COURSE LENGTH

Re-upholstery projects vary a lot in the time in takes to complete them and the number of classes you require will depend on your project and work speed. Your initial booking is for 9 teaching hours (2 days or 4 evenings) but you will have the option to stay on in the class on a rolling basis thereafter.

SKILL LEVEL:

2/3 – Suitable for those who have some previous upholstery experience.

COURSE TIME OPTIONS:

Tuesday evening classes 6.20pm -8.35pm

Wednesday daytime classes 10.00am – 3.00pm (July 2021)

Tuesday daytime classes 10.00am – 3.00pm (September 2021 onwards)

All classes must be taken consecutively

HOW TO BOOK IN:

You can book an initial block of 4 evening classes or 2 daytime classes through this website page. For students that want to stay on, we operate a pay-as-go-you system. We will send you a payment agreement using the WorldPay FuturePay facility. This will enable us to take payment from a card for 2 classes, every 2 weeks in advance, on a rolling basis.

You can leave the class at any time but we do ask for 2 weeks notice.

INCLUDED IN THE COURSE FEE:

Tutoring, tool use and basic sundries only.

You will need to source your own top fabric under our guidance.

Upholstered furniture sundries and off-the-roll upholstery materials such as hessian, calico, wool felt, interliner, and latex will be available to buy at the Makershed in small quantities and as required for your project.

HOW OUR CLASSES WORK:

All of our upholstery classes have a maximum student : tutor ratio of 6 : 1 and are mixed level, which means you will likely be in a group of people all doing different projects.

Tuition is given on an individual basis at each student’s bench to ensure a fully COVID-secure working and learning environment.
