Plan and make a piece of upholstered furniture under tutor guidance

You choose your project and we guide you through the process of planning frame construction and upholstery, making drawings, sourcing timber and materials and then making your project in the workshop

LEARN HOW TO:

  • Plan and make a furniture frame to your design
  • Add new upholstery skills to your repertoire

COURSE LENGTH

Upholstered furniture projects vary a lot in the time in takes to complete them. Having completed the level 1 and 2 courses with us, you will be aware that making furniture by hand requires time and patience and the number of classes you require will depend on your project and work speed. You can choose to keep your class place for consecutive weeks or takes breaks in between blocks of classes to suit your schedule and budget

SKILL LEVEL:

3 – Suitable for those who have completed our Upholstered Furniture for Beginners Level 1 & 2 courses

WHEN YOU CAN TAKE THIS COURSE:

Daytimes: Wednesdays

Evenings: Tuesdays

We operate waiting lists for places in these classes. Please email hello@themakershedbristol.co.uk to be added to one or more waiting lists. We will contact you when you get to the top of a list and we can offer you a start date

If you are an existing Upholstered Furniture for Beginners Level 2 student you will be given the option to keep your class place and continue on to do the Upholstered Furniture Level 3 course straight away

HOW TO BOOK IN:

When you accept a start date, we will send you a payment agreement using the WorldPay FuturePay facility. This will enable us to take payment from a card for 2 classes every 2 weeks. Payments are in advance and we require 2 weeks notice if you wish to leave the class

INCLUDED IN THE COURSE FEE:

Tutoring and tool use only

You will need to source your own timber and top fabric under our guidance

Basic upholstered furniture sundries and off-the-roll upholstery materials such as hessian, calico, wool felt, interliner, and latex will be available to buy at the Makershed in small quantities and as required for your project
