WEAVE YOUR OWN SCARF
You have learned the basics of using a rigid heddle loom and now it is time to expand your weaving knowledge. On this course you will learn to hand weave your own lambs wool scarf.
This will enable you to feel more comfortable working at the loom and exploring the use of different fibres to create the desired outcome. By the end of the course you will have learned how to design your own warp, how to use different weft yarns and finally how to use pick-up sticks to create a pattern border.
This is the perfect next step to creating fabric on a rigid heddle loom.
Approximately 18 teaching hours (4 days or 8 evenings) – the pace at which you work is set by you. You will have the option to stay on in the class on a rolling basis thereafter and take our level 3 course.
2 – Suitable for people who have taken the level 1 course
COURSE TIME OPTIONS:
Monday evening classes 6.20pm – 8.35pm
Tuesday daytime classes 10.00am – 3.00pm
All weekly classes must be taken consecutively
HOW TO BOOK IN:
We operate waiting lists for these places. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to one or more lists. We will contact you when you get to the top of a list and we can offer you a start date. Please also provide a phone number as sometimes spaces become available at short notice.
When you accept a start date, we will send you a payment agreement using the WorldPay FuturePay facility. This will enable us to take payment from a card for 2 classes every 2 weeks in advance. You can leave the class at any time but we do ask for 2 weeks notice.
INCLUDED IN THE COURSE FEE:
Tutoring and tool use only. You will need to source your own wool for this project, which we will help you to do as part of your course.
If you would like to bring your own rigid heddle loom to use that’s absolutely fine – just let us know. We also offer the option to take a loom home to keep working mid course once the tutor is happy that you can continue unguided. There is a deposit of £150 payable for this.
HOW OUR CLASSES WORK:
Our weaving classes have a tutor:student ratio of 1:8. They are mixed level, which means there may be people in your class working on different projects to you.
Tuition is given on an individual basis at each student’s bench to ensure a fully COVID-secure working and learning environment.
We run waiting lists for cancellation spaces on all of our fully booked courses – to be added to a list please email email@example.com. Please consider including your telephone number, as spaces sometimes become available at short notice.
